Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the leadership of the International Gynecologic Oncology Society, I am pleased to announce that Mary Eiken, RN, MS has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Society effective April 1, 2016.

Mary brings more than twenty years of senior executive experience in the field of association management. Over the last twelve years she was CEO the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) and their Foundation, the Foundation for Gynecologic Oncology.  During her tenure she moved the organizations from a management firm to a self-managed environment. She implemented strong governance, policies, and procedures and executed three strategic plans over the course of those twelve years.  Under her leadership, the SGO membership increased by 50% with 20% international growth. She has diversified and grown the organizations non-dues revenue and enhanced the SGO’s overall presence through effective aligned strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining SGO, Mary was Senior Director of Quality, Outcomes and Research for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for over eight years. There she oversaw the implementation of what is now the preeminent outcomes registry in medicine that generated over a million patient records and several peer reviewed publications along with process enhancements to positive patient outcomes.

Mary received her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree from DePaul University. She is a past board member of the Association Forum where she has volunteered in many different capacities. She is also active in the American Association for Medical Society Executives (AAMSE), Be Bright Pink and several other advocacy based organizations.

Please join me in welcoming Mary to our great organization. With her high energy and tireless commitment to women’s cancer, I know she will greatly impact the IGCS in a positive manner as our CEO. Feel free to reach out to Mary at mary.eiken@igcs.org. She looks forward to meeting many of you at our biennial meeting in Lisbon.
